Description
This course will enable students to understand the installation of a complete vacuum maple water collection system. Additionally, students will be able to select the proper materials and equipment based on the number of taps per pumping station.

- Describe the operation of the vacuum maple water collection system

- Estimate the slope and length of the main collector tubes
- Determine the diameter of the collector tubes based on the number of taps

- Planning tools: topographic maps, topo file, rangefinder, measuring tape
- Tools and materials for installing support spindles: wooden wedges, guying tubing, high-tension spindles, splicing rods, gripples, spindle tensioners, guying spindles, etc.
- Tools and materials for securing the collector tube to the support spindle: winding spindles, spindle benders, connectors (plastic, stainless steel, electrofusion), valves, etc.
- Lateral tubes: 5/16" tube and connectors
- Leveling the collector tube: braces, levels
- Connecting lateral tubes to the collector tube: punchers, saddle T’s, SpinSealMC, FLEXClipMD, etc.
- Making drops: 5/16" tube, T-connectors, elbows, and adapters
- Installing drops: connector pliers, pruners, measuring tape
- Types of extractors: horizontal, vertical, mechanical, electric, etc.
